Join us for a long weekend and brush up on your backpacking, hiking, and kayaking skills

Cost: $100 for Chicago Kayak Club Members


The first 17 people to sign up stay at our group campsite for free. All others will be responsible for booking their own campground.

5:30-7:30 Backpacking 101 (see Details below)

Sunday May 27th
8am Breakfast (included)
10am-12:00 Kayak Skills Workshop Cont. (strokes, bracing, rolls, rescues)
12:00-12:30 Brown Bag Lunch
12:30-2:30pm Open Kayaking
3:00-6:00pm Backpacking 102 (see Details below)
6:00-7:30pm Hike
8PM Potluck Dinner and GORP Contest (think you have the best GORP? Let our panel of judges decide!)

10:00am-1:00pm Kayak Skills Workshop Continued, plus open paddling

We will also have a Load the Trailer contest. Upon Registering, you will be assigned to either the East Greenland, or West Greenland Team.  Each team will have their chance to load the trailer with assorted gear.  The quickest team to load the trailer correctly and securely wins!)

Safety

  1. What should you have in your first aid kit?

  3. What logical steps to take in the event of an emergency
  4.  Bear proof camps and Bear safety

Cooking/Trail Diet

  1. What are your minimum food requirements out in the wilderness?
