Kayaking Award for Scouts
Learn all you need to know to get yourself started kayaking safely! Experienced instructors take you thru the requirements in a logical, thorough, step by step process.
Kayaking BSA Class Details
Classes offered Spring thru Fall
Class size: 8-10 Students
Class length – between 4 and 5 hours
Location: Skokie Lagoons (off of Tower Rd and 94 in Glencoe/Winnetka)
Class Cost: $ 40 – this is a special reduced rate for Scouts

After registration, you will be directed to a page that includes what to
wear, what to bring, and other useful info, plus directions to the
launch site. All students should be at the launch site approx 10-15
minutes before the start of class. Waivers will be e-mails to troop
leaders for distribution.
Course Outline below (Swimmer Test not included in Kayaking Class)
Sign up online. When checking out, please pay for the total number of sessions you would like. We will then e-mail you a request for follow up information, like names of children and parents, and ages of children, plus the applicable waivers.
The majority of the time is spent out on the water, for all sessions. Come back more than once to practice and hone sea kayaking skills!
